MOUNT KENYA PACKAGE-9 ITINERARY
Day 1
Depart from Nairobi at 800HRS and drive to Mt Kenya through Nanyuki where you meet your guide and porters. Proceed to Sirimon Gate for lunch before you start the three hour walk to Old Moses 3300 M above sea level for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Early breakfast and then 6-7 hours walk up to Shipton‟s camp. Enjoy the scenic views of Nelion and Batian peaks through Mackinder‟s valley with lunch served enroute to arrive at Shipton‟s camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
After breakfast, make an anticlockwise summit circuit of the peaks via Kami hut at Hausburg col to Mackinder‟s camp 4200 M above sea level. Lunch will be served on arrival, rest and then dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
Day 4
2 hours hike after breakfast to the Austrian hut and spend the afternoon scouting the area in preparation for the summit.
Day 5
Morning (500HRS) walk to the stem of the peaks to start the rock climb to point Nelion and point Batian spending the night at the Howell hut with dinner served at the hut.
Day 6
Descend to the Austrian hut for the night. In case of bad weather, reserve the day and rest here.
Day 7
Descend to the Met station 3048M above sea level via the Mackinder‟s camp for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8
Early breakfast and descent to the Naro Moru gate and transfer back to Nairobi.
